Leading Wellbeing That Actually Works: From Staff Burnout to Sustainable School Cultures
Thursday 18 May | 11am BST - 2pm GST - 6pm CST
This session will explore what it really takes to lead wellbeing in schools in ways that are credible, practical and sustainable. It will look beyond surface-level initiatives and well-intentioned gestures, asking how schools can build cultures in which staff feel valued, supported and able to do their best work, without pretending that the pressures of school life can simply be wished away.
The discussion will also ask a sharper question: why do some wellbeing strategies fail to touch the reality of staff workload, professional pressure and emotional fatigue, while others genuinely shift the culture of a school? We will explore what leaders can do to move from reactive responses to burnout towards more intentional, embedded approaches that protect people, improve trust and strengthen the quality of school life.

This webinar will help school leaders and practitioners think more honestly and practically about staff wellbeing, not as an add-on or a performance initiative, but as a core part of building strong, humane and effective schools.
We will explore:

-
what staff burnout looks like in schools, and why it is not always easy for leaders to spot early enough;
-
how leaders can distinguish between meaningful wellbeing work and initiatives that feel tokenistic, superficial or disconnected from the real pressures staff face;
-
how workload, communication, accountability, trust and leadership behaviour all shape the wellbeing culture of a school;
-
what sustainable school cultures require from senior leaders, middle leaders and teams, especially when resources are stretched and expectations are high; and
-
how schools can create habits, systems and conversations that support staff wellbeing over time, rather than relying on occasional interventions when people are already exhausted.
